Summer Staple #1: Maxi Dress.

Maxi dresses have always been a summer staple.  Give this classic a twist by pairing it with a tough fitted leather biker vest.  It's a perfect blend of earthy girl and rocker chick!

Fever.

Since I am not built like a supermodel (i.e. abs of steel) I find that a little ruched dress can be very forgiving...and dare I say...sexy.  Especially this little number from Forever 21.  The dress stops somewhere mid-thigh, short but not indecent.  My favorite bit though?  The little black ribbon tie that makes this white dress politely hot.

Going Rogue.

Whenever I don't feel like making the effort at work I usually break out the leggings and the oversized shirt. and then I compensate by donning some fierce heels.  I finally broke out this pair of wet look leggings today. they look like they're painted on and the shoes look painful but all in all a surprisingly comfy outfit!

Zippered Boots

I've been eyeing this pair from Charles & Keith for a while now will probably cave soon and snap them up before someone else does.  I love the dual zippered detail on these motorcycle boots-it adds just the right touch of toughness to an outfit.  Wear with skinnies/leggings and layer up top for a casual-tough look or change it up and pair it with a just-above-the-knee dress for a funky glam take on this cool A/W staple.

Plush Christmas

How gorgeous is this plush velvet playsuit from the latest Topshop collection?  It is *to die for*.  I love how the effortless romance of velvet works to soften an unconventional playsuit.  This look is perfect for your next holiday party.  Wear with some subtly patterned tights and heels or bare your legs if you dare.  Remember to stand next to a cozy fireplace for effect.  Happy holidays fashionistas!

Hot Holiday Item: The Corduroy Blazer

Like this one from Victoria's Secret (which is making my official Christmas wishlist), the corduroy blazer is a staple for Autumn/Winter.  It can be romantic, casual, sophisticated, depending on the cut and color.  Browns and tans usually evoke a casual collegiate feel while deep purples or teals give you an instant holiday look that you can easily carry from day to night.

For a fresh way to pair this hot item try a floral print top, boyfriend jeans, and brown riding boots.  Dainty gold bling and a cute knit hat top off a look that's both sophisticated and cozy.  Perfect for the holidays!

Rock out your leggings

Leggings are a girl's best friend.  A dark pair instantly slims your legs and is very forgiving figure-wise when paired with the right (read: loose) top.  Not just for moms anymore, leggings are now bringing sexy back.

To get the look:
  • Pair your leggings with a jersey wrap-over dress
  • Wear cute ankle booties a couple of shades darker than your dress for contrast
  • Accent with some hardcore jewelry: a big metal cuff and some silver and black earrings
  • Toughen up your look with a cropped leather jacket and a studded fringe bag
